Creating pathways for refugees to work, contribute, and live with dignity.
We’re enabling refugees to build livelihoods and shape a future where everyone can thrive.
Who We Are

UMOJA for Peace and Resilience was founded in 2019 by refugees who understood displacement not only as a humanitarian challenge, but as a development opportunity. Having experienced firsthand the barriers refugees face—limited access to jobs, skills, legal documentation, and economic opportunities—UMOJA was created to address these challenges from within the community.
From its inception, UMOJA has been by refugees, for refugees, and of refugees. We believe refugees are not passive recipients of aid, but capable individuals with skills, ideas, and resilience. When given the right tools and opportunities, refugees can rebuild their lives with dignity and actively contribute to local and national development.
